Monochromatic Self Portraits

This year, I wanted to make a collaborative piece of art, to kick off the new year. I also wanted to create something that wasn't too tricky for the kids, while we got back into the swing of things and went over expectations and procedures in the art room, as well.

We got our inspiration from a few talented art teachers and students. Here's some great blogs you can get inspiration from too!

Top Art Supplies for the Elementary Art Room (Update!)

I've updated my top 20 list, and added to it!
Here's my list of my most favorite and best art supplies, that I have used over my 20 year career in art education! I know when I first started out, I really needed a list like this! Also, students ask, "Where can you get this??" So, I decided to compile a list of my fave supplies to share with you folks at home. If you have more to add to the list, feel free to leave your suggestions!

Kindergarten Line Sculptures take II!

This week, kindergarten is learning about lines, and creating a line sculpture! I like to do this lesson each year with these little ones, because it's so fun and they learn a lot! We not only learn about lines and sculptures, but other important things to like how to use a glue stick, fold paper, and follow directions! I originally saw this lesson on the awesome Cassie Stephen's website! Her video tutorial shows you exactly how to do it!
