2nd grade Paul Cezanne inspired Fruit bowls

2nd Grade Fruit Bowls

We started off this project by looking at the artwork of the French artist, Paul Cezanne.  He painted many things, but one subject matter he is famous for, is his still life of fruit. Here is one of the examples we looked at.

Paul Cézanne, “Fruit Bowl, Glass, and Apples” (1879-1882)

3rd grade Fall Printmaking Collage

 3rd grade
Fall Printmaking Collage
Third grade has been working on a new project, inspired by the artist and art teacher Cassie Stephens, that involves a few different types of media.
They created their leaves by printmaking with markers, and created their background by using liquid watercolors, salt, and oil pastels. Here's how we created ours!

Kindergarten & First Fall "Y trees"

Kindergarten Fall "Y trees"

Kindergarten has been learning how to make a tree with branches, which can be a tricky thing for a 5 year old!
I make it easier for them by using a trick I was taught during student teaching, a mere 14 years ago! (wow!)

4th Grade Fall Birch Trees

4th Grade Warm or Cool Birch Trees

Fourth grade has been working hard on their mixed media birch trees, for the past couple of weeks.

Here's how we created ours....

3rd Grade Fall Forrests

  3rd Grade Fall Forests

Third grade has been working on these cute little creations for the past couple of art classes now, and have been doing a great job!

Materials: Tru-Ray construction paper 9x12 & 4x6, pencils, Sharpie markers, scissors, and Elmer's glue sticks.

First, the students cut out their ground, and glued it to their background. They were to glue on the lightest green first, darker green second, and darkest green third, to create the look of aerial perspective. After they glued on their ground, the drew and cut out their trees. After they drew and traced the branches with a sharpie, they could glue them on the ground. We talked about overlapping and how to create the illusion of space when gluing on their trees. After the trees were glued, a few clouds and a sun were added to complete their project! Here are some examples of their work!
