4th & 5th Grade Romero Britto Self-Portraits

4th grade has been working on their Romero Britto style self-portrait, inspired by Cassie Stephens, for a few weeks now, and they're turning out so well!

For those of you who don't know who Mr. Britto is, here's a self-portrait he created.

He is a very talented artist, from Brazil who is known throughout the world for his colorful and unique works of art!

Here's how we created ours!
Materials:

Day 1 -3: The kids see examples of his work, and the work of other students their age. We draw the portraits together, use lines to divide the background, and talk about what designs we can use in our backgrounds too. After they draw everything out in pencil, we trace with Sharpie Markers, and we colored ours in with Mr. Sketch markers. When we color with markers, I remind them about "lawn mower coloring", and how it looks a little better to color in one direction!

This project took them 2-3, 45 minute classes.

Here are a few of our fabulous fourth grade examples!
