Fabulous Fall Elementary Art Lessons!

Hi! Glad you're here! Here's a list of the fall themed elementary art projects we've done throughout the years! Hope this helps, having them all in one place! Just click on the pictures or titles below, and they'll take you to the original post.

3rd grade Square 1 Art Tigers

3rd Grade Square 1 Art – Tigers in the Jungle 🐯🌿

Our 3rd graders are working hard on their Square 1 Art fundraiser, and this year they are creating bold and beautiful tiger portraits!

We started last week by sketching out our tigers in pencil, and following along with me and my "How to draw a tiger" video, on my Youtube channel.

Once the drawings were ready, we traced over them carefully with black markers to make the details stand out. This week, students are bringing their tigers to life with bright oil pastels and paint. The pops of orange, green, blue, and pink make the artwork jump right off the page!

Here's our favorite supplies that we used!  Circle tracersPencils, Permanent markers, Oil pastels, and watercolor paint or tempera paint. #amazonassociatelinks

Each tiger is full of personality, and the students are so proud of their work. We can’t wait to see these wild and colorful creations turned into keepsakes for families through the Square 1 Art fundraiser.

2nd grade Square 1 art Cardinals

Our 2nd graders have been hard at work creating these beautiful winter cardinals for our Square 1 Art fundraiser! This project took two days to complete and was such a fun way to combine drawing, painting, and mixed media.

Students started by sketching their cardinal in pencil, then outlined their work with sharpie markers. Next, they added details with oil pastels before finishing with bright tempera paint backgrounds to make their birds pop.

The results are stunning—each student created a unique and colorful winter scene! Best of all, the fundraiser helps us purchase new art supplies so our young artists can keep exploring and creating all year long.

We’re so proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see their art come to life on keepsakes for families!

Here's how we made them!

Monarchs and Marigolds 4th Square 1 Art

Last week, 4th grade started their Monarchs and Marigolds lesson, for their Square 1 art. We watched a short video on the migration of Monarchs to Mexico, and learned a little bit about Dia de los Muertos

I then showed them a quick clip of the Monarch butterflies we saw on our farm in Tennessee, a couple of weeks ago. I read this generation of butterflies will be the ones who make the trek to Mexico! I read they fly between 1,200 and 3,000 miles on that journey! That's incredible!

Then, they drew along with me and Art for Kids Hub and made their own Monarch butterfly by drawing with a pencil, tracing with a sharpie, and painting the wings. We're going to add the marigolds in the background the same way, but color them with oil pastels.

Materials used:

Pencils, Sharpie markers, oil pastels, watercolors, brushes, cups

Here's our progress so far!

Square 1 Art!

Square 1 Art Fundraiser is Back! 🎨✨

This week in the art room, our students began working on their Square 1 Art projects! Each child is creating a special piece of artwork that will be turned into keepsakes for families to enjoy. From mugs and ornaments to tote bags and stickers, there are so many fun products available—perfect for gifts or for cherishing your child’s creativity at home.

The best part? All products will ship for FREE, just in time for Christmas! 🎁 That means families can order unique, personalized holiday gifts while also supporting our school.

Why does this fundraiser matter?
Our school serves over 800 students, and every single one of them benefits from a fully stocked art room. The money raised through Square 1 Art goes directly toward buying essential art supplies—paper, paints, brushes, markers, oil pastels and more—so that every student has the tools they need to express themselves creatively.

We can’t wait to see all of the incredible artwork your children are creating. Be on the lookout for order forms and online access codes coming home in November!

Thank you for supporting the arts at our school and helping to keep creativity alive for every student. 💛

Here’s what we’re working on!

Supplies:

Pencils, permanent markers, oil pastels, watercolor paint, tempera paint, twistables, and paint sticks

5th grade-Their favorite animal
They can bring their laptop, and find images or a how to video, on their favorite animal.

4th grade-Monarchs & Marigolds
They're watching a quick video on Dia de los Muertos and the monarch migration, and then we're drawing our own, step by step! We were inspired by this Art for Kids Hub video.

3rd grade-Crouching tiger
We'll be drawing a tiger step by step together, following my Youtube video on how to draw a tiger.
They're starting out with a circle, and my favorite circle tracers can be found here!

2nd grade-Cardinal
We're following along with Art Land's, "How to draw a winter cardinal" video, and creating our own!

1st grade-Expression Suns
They'll create their own sun, using the circle tracers here, and then add their own style rays, and facial expressions.

Stay tuned for Kindergarten's! We've got some practicing to do first :)
