4th grade Yayoi Kusama Pumkin Collage

This fall, 4th grade created some Yayoi Kusama inspired pumpkin collages!

I taught this to 4th grade, and then dressed up as Yayoi Kusama for storybook character day. It was fun seeing the 4th graders light up and recognize who I was when I walked through the halls, that day!

We studied the art of Kusama, learned about her career and life from this Tate Museum video.

Here's what supplies you need

Then I demonstrated how to create our own!

Chris Uphues inspired pumpkins!

This week, 2-5th are making some Chris Uphues inspired pumpkins! Click on his name to be taken to his Instagram page, and see his cool works of art! Here's another link to his website, Chris Uphues.com

This is a great art on a cart lesson because of the minimal supplies!
Here's what we used:

They have been having so much fun and are doing a great job making the 3-d jack-o-lantern faces!

Here's a video showing how to make one!

Art on a Cart 2020-2021

Sorry, I haven't posted in a while, but we've been busy over here! I'm on a cart again, so there hasn't been much down time. To top it off, we can't share supplies, so I'm having to improvise and do a lot of new, 1 day lessons, this year. Oh well! At least we're open, healthy, and I get to teach again!

The first week back, we did some more Cassie Stephens inspired projects! They loved the surprise mask selfie project, the mask emotions, and her origami pets! We did some radial symmetrical artworks,  some fun directed drawings, and now we're getting into some fall artwork! The kids have also loved the Op Art weaving with neon papers, from Mrs. Nguyen's website!

Here's some student examples of what we have been creating!

Kindergarten Pumpkins!

Today we started the cutest little pumpkins in the patch with Kindergarten, and they did such a great job! I love all their toothy grins! We made these in under 45 minutes too! It was a super fun one day project, that fit in many skills! We even had a couple of extra minutes to paint the next class some orange paper to use! Whew!! :D

To create these pumpkins....
