1st grade Simply Cute Snowy Owls

State testing has started so that means a different schedule than normal, so shorter classes for the next couple of weeks! This may sound fun, but it's not! lol 45 minutes, once a week, is not enough time to begin with, much less 35 minutes! They're coming at different times as well, and the natives are getting restless this time of the year anyway!
I saw this precious idea on Instagram, (@the_doodle_birds) and thought the kids would have fun with this quick and pretty simple lesson on line, shape, and color! They're practicing their drawing skills,  tracing skills, their coloring, and painting all in one, 1 day project! & in case you haven't noticed, Mrs. Stacey loves owls so this is a win, win!
Here's how we created our own!

Kindergarten Snowy Owls

It's freeeezing in TN, so what do we have on the brain?? SNOW! Sadly, there are no snow days in the forecast, so we'll create our own wintry weather!
This week, Kindergarten will be starting this snowy little owl picture! Mrs. Stacey loves owls, and owls are so interesting! I've checked out a neat owl book, the librarian has passed on some great web resources, and to top it off, we'll create our own little owlet!

Kindergarten & 1st grade Owls

Today, due to an early release schedule, specials are only 30 minutes long. So, Mrs. Stacey did a directed drawing (teaching how to draw something step-by-step on the screen) with Kindergarten and 1st. They didn't have time to color, but they did such a WONDERFUL job!! Mrs. Stacey is so proud of these awesome little artists! Here are some fabulous examples!

2nd grade created these owls out of painted paper we made on the first day of art! I saw these on the Painted Paper Art blog, and had to try them with our students!

5th grade foil owl relief

 5th grade

Owl Foil Relief

Last month, 5th grade created an owl relief. By the way, this project was inspired by Make it....a Wonderful life blog
A relief in art is a work of art that sticks out from its flat background. Here are some examples of relief sculptures.
