This week and the next, kindergarten will be working on their ROY G BIV rainbow clouds! Even though this may look pretty simple, it's tricky for some of my friends who have hardly held a pencil, marker, or scissors before!
I found this fun idea on Lauralee Chambers' Instagram account, and decided to try it with our little ones!
here's how we created ours!

Confession: The first day I did this with kindergarten, we tried to draw the bumpy lines together, like as a directed drawing, around the edge of our paper...and that did not work out so well!
So, I improvised and made 20 cloud tracers real quick, and we used those to create our cloud shape. I know tracers sound like "cheating", but tracing is still tricky for them, and a good way to use those fine motor skills.
Tracing went much better, for sure!
After they traced their clouds, they could draw a face. Whatever kind of face or expression, their little hearts desired! My cloud had a happy face, so a lot did happy faces. Some even did vampire faces! haha 😆
The next class we'll finish them up, talk more in depth about the order of the rainbow, and if we have time, draw a little rainbow picture to take home.
Today, day 2, we watched this cute little video showing a song about ROY G BIV.
"Roy G Biv is a colorful man, who lives inside the color spectrum!"
Stay tuned for more awesome art!
