2nd grade Line and Shape Cactus

 

For the past couple of art visits, 2nd grade has been working on the elements of art, line, shape, and a little form, by creating these cacti!

Here's how we made them!

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Sorry, I'm late in posting this lesson, but we had a very unexpected "snow week" last week, right after Valentine's Day. My little boy was born 4 years ago, on that day, so we spent the day celebrating him! Here's how we celebrated at school! After we made our Chris Uphues 3-5th mural, we went on to try Tabitha Seaton's box with hearts lesson! 4th and 5th did a great job drawing their boxes with me, because of her neat instructions on how to do so. I made a video for my 3rd grade virtual students showing them how to make it as well. You can watch that below! 

For this project we used:

Tru-Ray construction paper

Sax 90lb paper

Pencils

black Sharpie markers

Scissors & Glue sticks

3rd Grade Dot Paintings!

Last week, 3rd grade celebrated National Dot Day, by creating their own dot paintings! The Dot, is a book written by Peter Reynolds, and is about a young girl who's frustrated in art class, and says she can't draw. Her teacher says, "Make a dot, and see where it takes you." The student does, and realizes that she is capable of making great art, all she had to do was try! Here's how we create our own!

5th Grade Dots!

Last week, 5th Grade started their Foil Pattern Dots, inspired by the book, The Dot!  September 15th was National Dot Day, and we celebrated by making these fun, foil "dots" inspired yet again by the fabulous Cassie Stephens! The main tag line of The Dot is, "Make a mark and see where it takes you." Sometimes that can be a hard thing to do, but if you never try, you'll never know what you're capable of!
