Today we started the cutest little pumpkins in the patch with Kindergarten, and they did such a great job! I love all their toothy grins! We made these in under 45 minutes too! It was a super fun one day project, that fit in many skills! We even had a couple of extra minutes to paint the next class some orange paper to use! Whew!! :D

I gave them all a sheet of orange painted paper, and we drew an oval together. Then they cut their ovals out. While they were cutting, I gave them a white rectangle for their eyes. I showed them how to fold the rectangle and cut out two circles at once, and we glued those on. While they were gluing, I gave them little black rectangles for the pupils. They drew and cut out their own pupils as well. As they were cutting and gluing the pupils, I cut out D shapes for their mouths. They glued those on, and I passed out long strips of white paper for the teeth. I demonstrated how to chop up the strips into smaller rectangles, and glue them to the edge of their mouth. (I like how some glued theirs on upside down for a "scary face". While they were working on their teeth, I passed out small strips of brown for the stem, and pieces of green for the leaf. We glued them to the back of the pumpkin, and glued the leaf to the stem. et voila! Precious pumpkins were born!
