Kindergarten Tiger Collage

Kindergarten started a new art project this week, and I'm so tickled about how their tigers are turning out!
Here's how we created them!
Materials:

Day 1: Pass out orange paper, pencils, and sharpies and lead the students in a directed drawing of their tiger. One of them piped up, "This looks like Roary!" That's our school mascot! They were so excited :) After we drew the tiger out, they traced them with their Sharpie markers, and I passed out black triangles for them to glue on the edges of their tigers. After they glued those on, or before doesn't matter, they added white to their eyes, ears, mouth, and chest. We also used yellow to color in the eyes. When all that was complete, they cut them out and glued them to their blue background.

Mrs. Robertson's class has some awesome artists!

Mrs. Susong's class is off to a great start!

Here's Mrs. Kerr's  and Mrs. Campbell's class, doing an amazing job!

Here's some cuties from Mrs. Reece's class!

Day 2: We'll get a piece of 4x12" 90 lb paper, scribble on it with the green and light green pastels, and paint it green. When that sheet dries we'll use it for leaves so we can make our tiger look like he or she's in the jungle, like this painting by Henri Rosseau.

After the leaves are dry, we'll cut them out and glue them to edges of their blue paper

Here's some finished work! Great job Kindergarten!
